Past the checkpoints – beyond the Guarded Zone
Outside the city- I've made myself the prey
On this planet- most have 2 options to live
Out here or the mines where they dig their own grave

Back in the city - in a tower tall standing
Is a man looking down on the world
Knowing none would ever leave this place
Disdain never left his face
But through boredom came the Genetic Trials
First it was just volunteers – then random law breakers
If the law couldn't be softened by bribe
Supreme Commander Skedralis - stood unopposed, unimpressed
Until he received a message from the Outlands
“Who wastes my time with this nonsense
You know what to do – How to handle this”
Yet no one was there to respond

Replaying the message taking note of the 2
That left the dead to rot under the sky
A smile long unseen appears on the tired face
Of one awakened to new life
Not since the Rebuilding or the results of the first Trials
Had Skedralis been challenged in years
Entering a room- his successes in tanks - he presses
The button to drain their womb and awake - the horror
“You have but one purpose - thats to serve
Your creator - so hear this now”

Grazir – the Chief Scientist stands in the way

The Dream has returned
He finds himself there
Pulled from a window – Pulled by the winds
He floats on air – Before he descends
A cloaked figure approaches
That not of a man
From this woman's mouth to his ears come the words
“Find the key, unlock the path”
Just as before he gets pulled away
At least he knows this much – He's lived another day
When Balathu gets shaken then found he has awakened
Next to this same woman now at the city gates

But the thought that lingered most of all

An entrance to the mines – That is what we need

But with desperation – Thoughts aren't as clear

An exhaust port cannot be – Far from here
Searing pain cuts through shoulder – Arm going numb
Air getting older – Shot striking home
2 shot down, another pulled in with an explosion from a gas line
Just following arrows - not reading signs
Run out of hope – Just biding time
Another turn – Another shot to dodge
Tunnel more narrow – Old air gets hot
Glimmer of light – Finally found our way
Blast of fresh air – Still nowhere safe
Entering the canyons – Sandstorm just up ahead
2 still follow out of the mines – Why haven't they yet fled?
Another shot rips through me – My head begins to swim
One last chance into the storm – One last chance to live
Punch in the coordinates – In case we survive
Safehouse in the Outlands – hidden from sight
For these pursuers – Whoever they might be
We will lose them in the Outlands – Known by none better than me
Into the storm – Sand burns the flesh
No air to breathe – not old not fresh
Hoping to hit nothing – especially at this speed

Like the predator to its prey – The tank bred treats this like a game
As he slowly picks their bodies apart – Throws one aside when it stops their heart
The soldiers look on in the distance – They now understand the fear
The limbs of the ones they once took orders from
Lay chewed up, covered in blood, & thrown away
Thats good enough for now – Save your strength
Skedralis looked over the soldiers bracing themsleves – 2 forces merged
Didn't matter if either – Succeeded or failed
He knew in the end he'd get what he wanted
2 fugitives fate sealed

The soldiers bow their heads as they pass – the husks of their former leaders
Following a new one they dare not question
A signal from a tracking beacon – Faintly shows a signal
As soon as the storm passes we march – We march
The sun scorches flesh – As we arrive at a shelter
One that wouldn't have been so easily found – If it wasn't for the tracker shot
One squad approaches – As 3 take the flanks
No matter the precaution – Now matter how well trained
Almost all of those soldiers went up in flames
One trap sprung after other – They try to run away
As Skedralis looks down from a distance
He sees a cloud of dust headed back to the city – So far away – Hahahahahahaaha

Rush the gates & storm the wall
A dire plan – With dire consequences
Most won't come back – If any at all

Alert raised to high – So the flashing alarm seems to scream
Demo charges placed – Accepting this will be a one way trip
Insertion team moving deeper – Havn't yet spent a clip
